UAE to Simulate Mars Settlement Mission in the Metaverse
UAE based Web3 technology company Bedu is working with the The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center to recreate the feeling of living on Mars ahead of a planned mission in 2117.

Astronomists can now reach the stars through virtual worlds. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) in Dubai is working on a massive project to simulate life on Mars in the Metaverse as part of the country's plans to establish a colony on Mars by 2117. MBRSC has now partnered with BEdu, a Dubai-based Web3 technology pioneer, to create the 2117 Metaverse, which will include virtual experiences that capture the sensations of being in space and setting foot on Mars, as well as raise awareness about the challenges of exploration and colonization. “As we set our sights on ever more challenging destinations for exploration with humans and robots, innovative ideas and future thinking will be critical to helping us reach new milestones,” said Adnan al-Rais, Mars 2117 program manager at MBRSC. “The UAE is known throughout the world as a pioneer,” said Amin Al Zarouni, chief executive officer of Bedu. “We are excited to partner with MBRSC and are honoured to capture this spellbinding adventure to the stars using the power of the latest and greatest technologies here on Earth. With 2117 we aspire to deliver a fully experience-driven Metaverse that focuses on creating endless opportunities for both, individuals, and organisations.” The UAE space program is aimed not just at completing missions, but also at fostering economic growth. Over 57 space companies and 5 space science research centers are based in the UAE, providing over 3,200 jobs in the sector.
