Sotheby Holds NFT Auction Inspired by Viral Subreddit Oddly Satisfying
Sotheby's NFT auction ‘Natively Digital: Oddly Satisfying’ explores Reddit virality through digital art.

Sotheby's NFT auction ‘Natively Digital: Oddly Satisfying’ - inspired by the meme-fuelled subreddit, ‘Oddly Satisfying’ - will feature the work of famed NFT artists, Anyma, ARC, Andreas Wannersted, Beeple, Clement Morin, Jon Noorlander, Ryan Talbot, Filip Hodas, Lucas Zanotto, Olivier Latta and more.
The auction’s theme revolves around Reddit’s ‘Oddly Satisfying’ section, which went viral in 2013. The section, or subreddit, is filled with images and videos that - as the name suggests - are ‘oddly satisfying’ in some meditative way, the visual equivalent of ASMR or popping bubble wrap with your thumbs.
Each artist was commissioned to explore the intricacies of the digital phenomenon, uniquely conceptualizing the kinetic nature and aesthetic of Reddit virality through 3D animation. The ‘Natively Digital: Oddly Satisfying’ auction is set to run till March 24th at 04:00 PM (CET) in Paris.
